There comes a point in every woman’s life, especially after 40, when the urge to shrink just… stops. Shrinking to stay safe. Shrinking to be polite. Shrinking to fit a role, a title, or a version of yourself that no longer exists. And if you’re reading this, maybe you’ve reached that moment too.

My girlfriend once told me that after 40 you can say whatever you want, and when you get to 50, folks better look out.

Here’s the truth:You were never meant to shrink. You were made to take up space. Be bold, loud, and bigger than the room can hold.

Taking up space isn’t just about walking into a room with confidence — though, hell yes, wear the heels if you choose. Let them hear you coming and walk like everyone’s watching. It’s about owning your presence, your voice, and your whole damn story. It’s about wearing the outfit you love, not just the one that fits. It’s about leading at work UNAPOLOGETICALLY, speaking up in meetings, laughing too loud, dancing in public, and knowing your power Is. Not. Up. For. Fucking. Debate.

In my world, I get to see this shift happening all the time. Whether I’m managing a safety team or styling a woman for a new season of life, I see it in her posture. Her tone. Her eyes. That shift from “Do I belong here?” to “I own this space.”

And it’s not just about the clothes, though yes, the right jacket, jeans, or lipstick can be powerful reminders. They don’t give you confidence. They simply reflect what’s already there, waiting just beneath the surface. The quiet strength you carry. The resilience shaped by years of challenges along with the beauty of experience etched in every line and laugh.

I wrote this for the women who are done playing small. The ones who know being fabulous isn’t about flawless perfection, it’s about presence. Showing up fully. Standing tall with everything you’ve been through and everything you still want to become.

It’s for the leaders who’ve learned hard lessons but keep pushing and grinding. The learners who know growth never stops and are ready to claim their moment. The bold souls who wear their greys and wisdom like armor, stepping into their next chapter fiercely, unapologetically, and with intention.
